2018 World Series of Poker

With the 2018 World Series of Poker running from the 29th May 2018 – 17th July 2018 is rearing its head once again and putting dreams back into their place.

2018 World Series of Poker offers some 78 events, so to start off you will certainly need to put all your ducks in a row and seriously checking into your budget. The best way to get the most bang for your buck is to find ways to satellite into the events you want to play.

Qualifying for various events as well as the WSOP or other big buy-in tournaments is an integral path into eventually reaching the top.

Satellite tournaments were introduced in 1983 giving players who would not normally be considered for a place the opportunity to play with lower stakes and of course opening the game up to the world as such. Satellites and other ways to qualify for tournaments help attract new players, build the prize pool and make the tournament more attractive to poker professionals.

Entries consist of :-
1. Satellites are a lower-cost option to entering a tournament that allows someone to qualify for a larger buy-in for a fraction of the cost.
The most common type of satellite is the single-table satellite, where one winner emerges and claims a tournament ticket. There are also mega-satellites that run more like a multi-table
tournament with the number of winners dependent on the prize pool generated by the entrants.

2. WSOP-organized events – According to Seth Palansky from the WSOP, new satellites will be released on WSOP.com each month before the series starts at the end of May.
The WSOP also has plans to introduce Main Event and online bracelet satellites beginning in March.
Palansky also indicated the return of the popular 25 Seat Scramble would be once again making an appearance online this summer closer to the start of the Main Event.

3. Local Card Room Tournaments – Card rooms have been known to offer tournaments and other qualifying events. It’s always exciting to send local players to Nevada to represent their hometown.
Some of these tournaments happen in conjunction with the WSOP, and some are a product of the casino – So Check with your local card room for their plans to offer satellites
into the Main Event or other bracelet events.

4. Online Poker Sites – Online poker sites are probably where most players first came into contact with poker satellites – you can expect to see satellites both on sites catering to
international players and those sites catering to American players.

The most popular sites in the past for satellites have been PokerStars, 888poker, Partypoker and, of course, WSOP. – Continue to login to your accounts and check the tournament lobby for satellites and online qualifying events.
